The Japanese has devised an airbag that
can raise a house 3cm off the ground to protect it from earthquakes. Sensors on the airbag detect when a quake starts and ends, and gently
deflates the airbags afterwards. The first anniversary of the earthquake
and tsunami in Japan that killed more than 15,000 people last year is
on March 11th.
